"Foundations – Creating Impact in a Globalised World"
This new book examines the evolving dynamics driving philanthropy as Western society struggles to meet today's many challenges. The author, Luc Tayart de Borms of the King Baudouin Foundation in Brussels, takes a hard look at the sensitive issues of democratic legitimacy, accountability and credibility in the context of civil society, as well as the changing policy environment in which foundations operate. He argues that effective philanthropy is "impact driven" and depends on a strategic mix of methodologies that reach beyond grant-giving. About 80% to 90% of existing literature is from the Anglo-Saxon perspective and written by academics. This book represents a uniquely European perspective from a practitioner with more than 20 years experience in the field.

 Lessons on Social Enterprise
Nonprofits’ resources of staff, time, and money are often strained nearly to the breaking point just keeping programs afloat. Ventures can, however, be an exciting alternative to the seemingly endless search for public contracts and private grants. In the best cases they bring together the money-making savvy of a forprofit enterprise, the social service goals of the public sector, and the mission-driven zeal of a nonprofit organization. For these reasons, in spite of the risks and challenges, they continue to capture the imagination of funders and nonprofits alike.
