European Foundation Centre appoints new Chief Executive
The European Foundation Centre (EFC) has appointed Dr. Gerard Salole, current Ford Foundation representative for South Africa, as Chief Executive of EFC headquarters in Brussels. Beginning in September 2005, he will replace John Richardson, the Centre's founding Chief Executive.

Search for Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2005
The Schwab Foundation searches for leading social entrepreneurs around the world. Social Entrepreneurs have been selected into the Foundation’s network after a thorough due diligence process, including outside expert reviews and site visits. Until today, the network includes 84 social entrepreneurs . Starting in 2005, the Schwab Foundation is collaborating with media partners to select the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year". Winners will join the global Schwab Foundation network and will have access to the benefits provided by the Foundation.

New toolkit will assist charity trustees in investing responsibly
A new guide, “Investing Responsibly: A Practical Guide for Charity Trustees” has been published to assist the increasing number of trustees who are adopting or updating responsible investment strategies on behalf of their organisations. The new toolkit has been launched jointly by the EIRIS Foundation, (parent body of Ethical Investment Research Services), NCVO (the National Council for Voluntary Organisations) and UKSIF (UK Social Investment Forum) following collaboration co-ordinated by Adam Ognall, of the EIRIS / UKSIF charity project. The toolkit provides practical advice and presents case studies of charities that have put their principles into their investment practices.

The future of accountability – 2 day event in London
A two-day international event and training day taking place on 3-5 October will convene people working in business, civil society and the public sector to explore innovative approaches to building accountable leadership and organisations in the 21st century. It will feature some of the world's pre-eminent thinkers from civil society, business and governance institutions, including Mary Robinson and Anwar Ibrahim.
