Alliance Magazine special 50% introductory discount for EUConsult Members
Alliance is a high-quality magazine tracking the latest trends and developments in civil society funding, covering issues at a global level. A regular column provides highlights of recent legal and fiscal developments affecting non-profit organisations. Wellcome Trust is biggest spending foundation in Europe in first ever continent-wide survey
The top 40 foundations list, ranked by grant expenditure, is dominated by trusts from Germany, Italy and the UK. But Belgium, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey also feature in the chart drawn up by Philanthropy in Europe magazine. Europe's top 40 foundations gave away a total of €3.2bn (£2.3bn) in 2002. But the 40 biggest US foundations handed out more than twice as much - €6.8bn (£4.8bn).
