THE BUSINESS
What range of clients do you serve?
Arts organisations
Cultural projects
Artists and cultural workers
Politicians
Public cultural administrations (ministry, regional, local)
Public private Partnerships
Cultural foundations
Regional development institutions.
How has your business evolved since it was started?
It has developed from a university course into a huge project factory (over 400 Projects in the last 15 years). Today the portfolio includes education and training, research and development, consulting, events and exhibitions and cultural programmes.
Where will your consultancy be in a few years time?
My aim is to build a high-profile consultancy for vision work, strategic planning, project management, marketing, leadership and organisational development.
Which opportunities and threats do you see for your work in the sector and for the development of NPOs?
From the point of view of a specialist in the cultural sector, I am concerned that huge financial problems in that sector may prohibit professional consulting or lead to low-cost consulting.
EUCONSULT MEMBERSHIP
Why did you join EUConsult?
To build and support a "trade mark" for consulting services, because today everyone is a consultant; to find partners and to develop a network of professionals in that field.
With which other EUConsult members have you found the opportunity to cooperate on projects?
Fitzcarraldo, Turin.
Maecenata Management, Munich.
BACKGROUND INFO
Where and what did you study?
Psychology and psychotherapy, as well as communication sciences in Salzburg and music in Salzburg, Darmstadt and Cologne.
How did you first get involved in NPO consultancy?
Through a scientific institute which I founded in 1979 for everyday culture. We started with a series of consultancy projects in culture and community work.
What interests you most about staying in the field?
Having the opportunity to play a leading role in developing the sector.
What do you do to relax and forget your consultancy work?
Do you really expect an answer?!
