THE BUSINESS

What range of clients do you serve?
We specialise in working with clients in the arts: museums, theatres, arts academies, music ensembles and associations.

How has your business evolved since it was started?
The business has grown steadily over the last few years at a rate of up to 20% per annum.

Where will your consultancy be in a few years time?
We are aiming to develop our business - continuing to work successfully in the arts field, but also working for public institutions, eg healthcare and transport.

Which opportunities and threats do you see for your work in the sector and for the development of NPOs?
Legal and structural change, as well as political change, represent an opportunity for our business. The major threat is the uncertainty in respect of taxation - not knowing how institutions' or our own income will be taxed in the coming years is a problem. The current system could possibly become even more complicated.

As far as the development of NPOs is concerned, I see more opportunities arising as structural changes force organisations to work together with consultancies. The fact that NPOs are coming under increasing pressure is an opportunity for the creative thinking that consultancy can provide.

EUCONSULT MEMBERSHIP

Why did you join EUConsult?
We were interested in the platform for international exchange provided by the Association. Accessing working tools, discussing strategies, the exchange of knowledge and seeing how others work were important aspects for us.

With which other EUConsult members have you found the opportunity to cooperate on projects?
We have worked together with AEA Consulting on a research project, a market study, on the ballet sector in Germany.

BACKGROUND INFO

Where and what did you study?
I studied the History of Art and Marketing & Communications at the University of Frankfurt.

How did you first get involved in NPO consultancy?
I worked as Assistant Curator at the Schirm Kunsthalle in Frankfurt. With this knowledge I then did some consultancy work for other organisations and, as the demand for consultancy assistance grew, I decided to set up my own business.

What interests you most about staying in the field?
The structural changes that will take place over the next few years will provide our business with interesting challenges, and hopefully a lot more work. On the other hand, I am interested in working with people and being involved in the necessary reorganisation processes.

What do you do to relax and forget your consultancy work?
Family life keeps me more than busy (I have a baby son and a two year old daughter). However, I do find the time to sing in a choir.
