Letter from the chairman

2007 November

Dear Friends and Colleagues

It is a great pleasure to introduce the EUConsult Information Service for the first time. As the Association’s new Chairman, I look forward to working together with the Board and Members to continue the great work done by David Saint. We made a good start at the first meeting of the new Board, which took place in September, concentrating on planning for our 2008 events.

We are very excited that the Winter Conference, 24-25 January 2008, will be located in one London’s most creative areas, Hoxton, which is also home to a number of charities and social enterprises. For the first time, we have selected venues with close links to the third sector: The Hoxton Apprentice (for our dinner on the Thursday evening) and Amnesty International UK’s Human Rights Action Centre (for the conference on the Friday). We are currently working on the programme and the invitations will be sent out later in November. I hope that you will be able to join us in Hoxton!

We have now set the dates for the Summer Conference in Rome, which will take place on 20-22 June 2008. Please make sure that you have these dates in your diary – this will be an event that we can all look forward to.

To move the Association forward and improve current services, it is important to take account of Members’ feedback, so we will be repeating the Member Satisfaction Survey again this year. Denise will send you the questionnaire shortly, so please respond with your evaluations, comments and new ideas.

I hope that you enjoy this issue of the Information Service and please do keep you contributions coming in.

Looking forward to seeing you in January for the Winter Conference!

Kind regards

Daryl Upsall
