Letter from the chairman

january 2004

Dear Colleague,

Firstly, I would like to wish you all the very best for the New Year, and hope that 2004 will be full of exciting opportunities for you.

I am very much looking forward to building on the successful development that the Association has had over the past year. In 2003 membership continued to grow, we held two successful conferences plus an informal meeting for members at the IFC in Noordwijkerhout, members received three issues of the Information Service and a membership survey was carried out.

I hope you will join with me in thanking board members for the time and commitment they have given to the Association. And I would also like to thank the many members who have made a valuable contribution by presenting at our conferences or providing input for the Information Service.

A new year brings with it new beginnings. This is certainly true for EUConsult's founder and ex-board member, Thomas Harris, who has decided to take a sabbatical and will be participating in a year long executive education programme at Insead on 'consulting and coaching for change'. We wish Thomas well and hope that he will come and share his new-found knowledge with us at a future date!

In addition, Fitzcarraldo, long-standing member and host of the memorable Turin conference, have regrettably decided to leave us, as their business activities no longer match the EUConsult remit. However Ugo Bacchella does not rule out the possibility of the Fitzcarraldo Foundation rejoining at some stage in the future, so we will be keeping in touch.

To balance the scales, I am delighted to welcome two new members, who will already be known to many of you:

  • Daryl Upsall, Daryl Upsall Consulting International (Spain)
  • Marilyn Wyatt, independent consultant (Poland).

I am also pleased to announce that the first EUConsult Training Course will be taking place in London prior to the forthcoming Winter Conference. Two members who are taking part in the Consultancy Process Training Course, which will be led by Calvert Markham, will also be attending the Winter Conference, so we look forward to hearing their comments on the course first hand!

Looking forward to seeing you in London!

With best wishes

David Saint
