Letter from the chairman
september 2003
Dear Colleague,
I am very pleased to introduce the September issue of the EUConsult Information Service and to report on the board's latest activities.
First of all, I am delighted to welcome our most recent new members:
- David Dixon of The Phone Room (UK)
- Detlef Friedrich of contec (Germany)
- Jan van Berkel of Zalpha van Berkel (NL).
It is also a great pleasure to announce that Stephen Bubb, Chief Executive of ACEVO, has agreed to join the EUConsult Committee on Ethics. ACEVO is the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations. We are sure that Stephen's considerable experience, added to that of committee chair Henk Smit and member Rupert Strachwitz, will ensure that members' interests in respect of ethics will be very well served.
Following the extremely valuable discussions with members at the summer conference in Paris, we have a full agenda for the next board meeting, which will be taking place in Amsterdam on 13 October. Topics for discussion include the member satisfaction survey, future meetings, further development of the strategic plan and updating the Association's articles of association, as well as ways in which we can market the EUConsult more effectively, both to prospective members and clients.
With the International Fundraising Congress coming up soon, we have decided to organise another informal meeting for members and non-members at the congress hotel in Noordwijkerhout. So if you are planning to attend the IFC, please come and join us at 12.00-13.00 on Wednesday, 15 October. Denise will be in touch soon with more details.
After Noordwijkerhout, the next opportunity for members to meet will be our winter conference in London on 15-16 January 2004, so please try and keep these dates free in your diary. We have yet to achieve a meeting where all members are able to attend - but it is a good target to aim for!
With best wishes
David Saint
Chairman, EUConsult
