Letter from the chairman
january 2003
Dear Colleague,
First may I wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year. I am very grateful to you for your help and support during 2002, when EUConsult membership grew from 21 to the current 31 members - a growth rate we will be working hard to maintain in 2003.
At our last board meeting we decided that, to meet the challenges of expansion, we would need some additional board members. We would therefore welcome nominations for new board members, so please do give this some thought and nominate a colleague, or indeed yourself - willing volunteers are especially welcome! A nomination form is attached, so please complete this and fax through to me before 16 January, when our next board meeting will take place.
The responsibilities of board members are not too onerous. We usually meet three times a year, two of these occasions coinciding with our Winter Meeting and Summer Conference. Board members help plan and implement interesting programmes, recommend potential new members of EUConsult, and help drive forward other initiatives such as our information service, and work on ethics.
I am pleased to report that we have had a fantastic response for our forthcoming Winter Members' Meeting. We currently have 35 delegates registered for the meeting at the IOD, plus our three external speakers, and we will be a group of 40 for dinner, so it will be a great opportunity to cement old relationships and form new ones. This year we will also be joined by a small number of consultants who are seriously considering joining the Association, so I hope you will help me make them welcome.
Whilst writing I would like to welcome our two most recent joiners: John Baguley of the UK-based International Fundraising Consultancy and Peter Buss of NonproCons, Swiss specialists in association management, fundraising and sponsoring. Both John and Peter will be attending the Winter Meeting, so this will be a good opportunity to meet and greet them.
I very much look forward to meeting with you in London.
With best wishes
David Saint
Chairman, EUConsult
